Innovaccer is a healthcare software platform that helps hospitals, clinics, and health insurance companies integrate and make sense of scattered patient data across multiple systems. The company is expanding its use of AI agents to automate manual healthcare workflows like appointment scheduling, insurance paperwork, and clinical note drafting. Major US healthcare systems including CommonSpirit Health, Atlantic Health, and Banner Health use the platform. Innovaccer recently signed a multi-year partnership with AWS to scale AI agents using Amazon Bedrock and AWS HealthLake.
In this Software Development Engineer II role, you will design, build, test, and ship scalable full-stack applications across frontend and backend. You'll own features end-to-end—from problem understanding and design through development, testing, deployment, and production support. A core part of your workflow will be leveraging AI coding tools and AI-assisted development practices throughout the engineering lifecycle, including code generation, test generation, debugging, and solution exploration.
You'll work collaboratively with Product, Design, AI, and Engineering teams to turn ambiguous problems into simple, scalable solutions. You'll think beyond individual components to understand system-wide impact and customer experience. You'll identify and drive improvements in performance, scalability, reliability, security, and engineering quality. You'll also contribute to engineering excellence through design reviews, code reviews, testing, documentation, and mentoring of peers.
The role emphasizes ownership, bias for action, system thinking, and continuous learning. You'll be expected to proactively identify technical challenges, challenge assumptions, and drive solutions without waiting for direction. You'll embrace the AI Development Life Cycle (AIDLC) and evolve how software is designed, developed, tested, deployed, and operated in an AI-native environment.
**Requirements**
Must-have:
- 3+ years of software engineering experience with strong ownership mindset
- Solid backend experience with Python, Java, Node.js, or similar; production-grade service building
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS skills
- Strong ReactJS or modern frontend framework experience
- Good understanding of REST APIs, RDBMS, NoSQL databases, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures
- Hands-on experience building and integrating end-to-end full-stack applications
- Hands-on experience using AI coding tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or equivalent); comfortable using AI as a coding partner, not just a chatbot
- Understanding of AIDLC and AI-native software development practices (AI-assisted coding, test generation, debugging, code review, documentation, iterative development)
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills with ability to develop creative, pragmatic solutions
- Strong system-thinking mindset; understanding not just how something works but why and how it impacts the larger system
- Strong bias for action, ownership, curiosity, and continuous learning
- Judgment to balance progress over perfection—knowing when to move fast and when to go deep
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Good to have:
- Hands-on experience building Agentic AI applications or workflows
- Experience with LLMs, RAG, tool calling, MCP, AI agents, agent orchestration, or multi-agent systems
- Experience integrating AI capabilities into production applications
- Familiarity with evaluating, monitoring, and improving AI-powered systems
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
