Salary: CAD 150,000 - 180,000 / annual
Xanadu is building quantum computers that are useful and available to people everywhere. The company is on a mission to pioneer quantum software development as a discipline and drive adoption of PennyLane, an open-source framework for quantum machine learning, quantum computing, and quantum chemistry.
As a Software Developer on the Frontend team, you will help build out the PennyLane.ai ecosystem of products. Your responsibilities include developing, maintaining, and expanding PennyLane.ai and related websites using modern front-end technologies. You will collaborate with product, design, and technical writers to develop and launch new features. You'll ensure robust design and implementation of web interfaces across mobile and desktop devices, take ownership of specific features and modules within the ecosystem, and contribute to code reviews while maintaining high standards for automated testing.
You will work cross-functionally to drive the product roadmap forward, architect scalable frontend systems, and lead technical transitions to modern frameworks or patterns. For senior candidates, you will partner with Product and Design leadership to define long-term technical strategy and UI/UX standards, and actively mentor developers on the team to foster a culture of continuous technical growth.
No quantum software experience is required. The role is ideal for someone who is product-minded, self-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with strong communication and collaboration skills.
REQUIREMENTS:
Basic Qualifications:
- BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, or related field
- Intermediate level: 3+ years of professional software development experience
- Senior level: 6+ years of professional software development experience
- Proficiency with React, TypeScript, Next.js, Gatsby, and Tailwind
- Experience integrating with APIs using RESTful services and/or GraphQL
- Strong commitment to code quality through automated testing
- Product-minded, self-driven approach to work
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep expertise with Next.js, React, and Tailwind CSS
- Experience building and customizing responsive themes for Sphinx using Jinja2 templating
- Competency with CI/CD using GitHub Actions
- Backend language experience (Python preferred)
- Containerization (Docker) and infrastructure-as-code experience
- Deep understanding of Internationalization (i18n) and Web Accessibility (a11y)
- Experience mentoring developers and fostering technical growth
