Matternet is building autonomous drone networks for delivery of critical goods across healthcare, logistics, food, and retail. The company is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join the platform team responsible for the backend, data, and infrastructure services that power the delivery network. In this hands-on, safety-critical role, you will own the reliability of systems supporting live flight operations. Your responsibilities include defining and tracking service-level objectives (SLOs) for production services, building and maintaining monitoring and alerting infrastructure, leading incident response efforts, and running effective post-incident reviews. You'll improve system resilience across databases, Kubernetes, messaging systems, and multi-AZ availability. You'll work with AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, Terraform, observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana), and messaging/data systems that connect the fleet to the cloud. This includes participating in an on-call rotation and leading incident response when production issues occur. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: - 3+ years in SRE, infrastructure, or backend roles operating production systems with on-call responsibility - Strong experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and containers - Hands-on infrastructure-as-code experience - Experience building monitoring and alerting with tools such as Prometheus and Grafana - Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language - Track record of incident response, root-cause analysis, and converting incidents into durable fixes - Clear technical communication and cross-functional collaboration skills Preferred: - Experience with Terragrunt or Gruntwork - Experience operating Kafka, MQTT brokers, or other messaging systems - PostgreSQL operations experience (upgrades, replication, backup/recovery) - Knowledge of cloud infrastructure security practices - Experience with IoT/telemetry, fleet, robotics, or systems with hardware in the loop - UAV, aerospace, logistics, or operationally critical domain experience - Experience using AI coding assistants to accelerate development
