Hypersonica is building Europe's hypersonic defence capability. This role is a core engineering position focused on developing and managing simulation environments for effectiveness modelling of advanced defence systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and manage end-to-end architecture for effectiveness modelling, ensuring the simulation environment can handle complex interactions and physics
- Conduct sensitivity and trade-off analyses to balance design variables (mass, shape, materials) against mission requirements
- Establish validation methodology to verify simulation results against physical test data, ensuring digital models accurately reflect real-world physics
- Provide data-driven insights to the engineering team on key dependencies, constraints, and system optimization opportunities
- Define and track quantitative performance indicators to measure system success
You'll work in a small, elite, mission-driven team where autonomy and impact are high. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional experts in engineering, operations, and defence. You'll operate in a fast-paced environment where good ideas are implemented quickly and flight/test feedback drives real decisions.
Company Culture:
Hypersonica hires for talent and capability, not rigid role definitions. The company values clarity, integrity, and excellence. High ownership and autonomy are core; no time tracking or micromanagement. Competitive compensation includes real share options aligned to responsibility and impact.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in simulation and modelling
- Strong background in numerical simulation in at least one of: high-speed flows (CFD), explicit dynamics (FEM), or Lagrangian particle tracking for explosive events
- Background in weapons effects modelling is preferred
- Technical skill to build automated workflows and simulation pipelines, not just run existing tools
- Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-paced environments; ability to create the path forward and bring cross-functional colleagues along
- Must be a German citizen and eligible for German Security Clearance and, where required, Developed Vetting
