Lead Graphcore's Signal and Power Integrity team, responsible for ensuring high-speed connections and power delivery reliability across the company's AI compute hardware. In this role, you will line-manage engineers and shape their professional development while agreeing on achievable delivery commitments. You'll help specialists define requirements, design margins, and acceptance criteria across silicon, package, PCB, and system boundaries. Your team's constraints and verification evidence will inform design owners' trade-off decisions before problems become harder to resolve. You'll coordinate analysis and hardware correlation activities, ensuring discrepancies receive specialist attention and integrity issues reach review and closure. You'll also plan for tools, licenses, and compute capacity to support the team's work. The role emphasizes building methods and knowledge that strengthen Graphcore's approach to signal and power challenges across future designs. You'll grow your leadership across interconnected engineering disciplines, combining people development with technical judgment that influences hardware from architecture through bring-up. The team culture values technical ownership among specialists rather than centralizing problem-solving. You'll connect their work with design, firmware, test, bring-up, and manufacturing colleagues. Programme management owns the integrated plan; you'll raise capacity conflicts early, bring practical options, and make delivery confidence visible. Decisions depend on evidence, documented assumptions, and proportionate peer review. You'll encourage challenge, seek specialist input when needed, and escalate unresolved disagreements before they impede progress. Graphcore is part of the SoftBank Group and is developing hardware, software, and systems infrastructure for next-generation AI compute. The company brings together AI research specialists, silicon designers, software engineers, and systems architects to solve complex problems in AI infrastructure. REQUIREMENTS: - People leadership experience that develops engineers, sets expectations, and addresses difficult performance issues, with readiness for formal line management - Strong engineering foundations and hands-on experience in signal or power integrity, with sufficient understanding of the other discipline to challenge approaches - Experience coordinating specialist engineering delivery, including estimates, work allocation, dependencies, and capacity planning in partnership with programme management - Clear cross-disciplinary communication skills that explain risks and trade-offs, secure specialist contributions, and help stakeholders reach decisions - First-principles reasoning and understanding of simulation, measurement, and correlation, including model limitations and when to seek specialist review - Evidence of improving engineering methods or building shared knowledge while maintaining clear ownership through technical investigations - Legal right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not available)
