Maxima is an agentic AI platform for enterprise accounting, automating journal entries, transaction matching, reconciliations, and flux analysis to SOX standards. The company was founded by leaders who oversaw finance at Rubrik and built month-end close systems at Twitter and Netflix. Maxima has raised $41M from top-tier VCs and is backed by finance leaders at OpenAI, Rubrik, and Vanta. The platform is already in production at Scale AI, Rippling, Glean, and SpotOn.
As a Senior or Staff Engineer, you will drive initiatives with broad business and technical impact across the organization. The role is not confined to a single area—senior and staff engineers tackle the company's most important and complex problems, own major product and engineering areas, and work directly with customers. You'll work alongside staff-level talent from Robinhood, Glean, Google, Netflix, and Meta on some of the hardest problems in enterprise automation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building the agentic systems that power real-world enterprise accounting automation
- Scaling the platform to support large and growing enterprise workloads
- Architecting a durable and scalable financial data processing layer
- Building the infrastructure that powers agentic systems
- Solving intricate accounting workflows through clean and robust abstractions
The system handles high-volume financial data and complex accounting workflows where every execution must be accurate and reliable, since the output becomes a company's books.
Requirements:
- Typically 5 or more years building systems at high-growth companies
- Strong familiarity with web development, relational databases, and distributed systems
- Proven record of owning a product or engineering area end-to-end and driving cross-team initiatives
- Ability to design, deploy, and iterate on infrastructure that must be accurate and reliable under high-volume financial data
- Comfort working directly with customers to understand real-world requirements
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to raise the bar for people around you
Nice to have:
- Experience with AI agents, data pipelines, mission-critical systems (fintech), or complex workflow engines
- Experience with the company's stack: Go, TypeScript, Python services, React frontend, GCP, Kubernetes, and LLM integrations
