Ethena Labs is seeking a Senior iOS Engineer to serve as the technical authority and primary developer for Ethena Pay, a consumer money app. This is a hands-on individual contributor role with significant decision authority—the app ships on your word.
You will own the iOS app end-to-end: architecture, build quality, visual craft, and the App Store release pipeline. You'll be the top contributor, writing and shipping the majority of the app yourself, focusing on the hardest surfaces, critical paths, and pixel-perfect polish. You'll own core app surfaces with full design authority, coordinate the App Store release pipeline (certificates, provisioning profiles, entitlements, TestFlight/App Store submission), and act as the default reviewer and decision-maker for iOS work.
Key responsibilities include raising the iOS quality and visual-craft bar, enforcing test strategy in code review, closing UI/polish gaps against the Liquid Glass design language, mentoring the team, setting technical standards, and driving mobile roadmap direction to lay the foundation for future Android and iOS hires.
This is a consumer money app where polish is trust—the app must feel fast, fluid, and pixel-perfect using modern iOS design patterns (Liquid Glass, SF Symbols, Dynamic Type).
REQUIREMENTS:
- Shipped and maintained native iOS apps handling real money or sensitive financial/crypto data from world-class consumer apps (e.g., Revolut, Monzo, Cash App, Robinhood, Coinbase, or design-led crypto apps)
- Strong Swift + SwiftUI expertise: modern concurrency (async/await, actors), state and navigation architecture, performance, memory management
- Track record of visually excellent, pixel-perfect apps with shipped App Store examples demonstrating design fidelity, motion, and haptics
- Hands-on with modern iOS design language, including Liquid Glass (iOS 26)
- Experience integrating SDKs typical in money apps: passkeys/WebAuthn (ASAuthorization), embedded-wallet/auth infrastructure (Privy, Dynamic, Turnkey, Magic), WalletConnect/Reown, KYC SDKs (SumSub, Onfido, Persona), account funding/aggregation (Mesh, Plaid-class), push/attribution (Firebase, AppsFlyer)
- Secure on-device handling: Keychain, biometric gating, disciplined avoidance of token/PII leakage to logs or analytics
- Comfortable owning and evolving large existing iOS codebases with judgment to set technical direction
- Proficiency with agentic development tools (coding agents like Claude Code, MCP servers, reusable skills) as force multipliers; ability to verify output
