Lambda, a leader in AI cloud infrastructure serving tens of thousands of customers from researchers to enterprises and hyperscalers, is seeking a Senior Workday Integration Architect to own the design, build, and operation of the Workday integration landscape end-to-end.
This is a hands-on architecture role reporting to the Business Technology organization. You will be responsible for defining and owning the target-state integration architecture for Workday, including patterns, standards, naming conventions, error handling, monitoring, and reusable components. You will serve as the technical lead for integrations during the Workday implementation, driving design sessions, building and testing alongside the implementation partner, and signing off on readiness for cutover and hypercare.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and executing the Rippling-to-Workday migration, including data extraction, transformation, load, historical data handling, cutover sequencing, and validation.
- Building and maintaining inbound integrations from recruiting (Ashby), org and cost center data (NetSuite), equity, and compensation systems.
- Building and maintaining outbound integrations to benefits carriers, 401(k), tax filing, international and global payroll providers (PECI/PICOF or Global Payroll Connect), equity administration, and downstream consumers (Okta, Lumos, BigQuery).
- Owning payroll results, accounting journal, and GL posting integrations to NetSuite, partnering with Payroll Operations and Accounting on reconciliation.
- Partnering with IT on Workday-to-Okta lifecycle management (joiner, mover, leaver), access provisioning through Lumos, and security group design.
- Designing Workday data extracts and RaaS reports feeding BigQuery and the analytics platform, defining data contracts for People Analytics and Finance.
- Establishing monitoring, alerting, retry logic, runbooks, and on-call practices for integrations; leading root-cause analysis when issues arise.
- Designing integrations to satisfy SOX ITGC requirements: least-privilege ISUs, credential and certificate management, change management, segregation of duties, audit trails, and evidence capture.
- Staying current on Workday's semi-annual releases, assessing impact, running regression testing, and adopting new capabilities.
- Writing documentation, integration inventory, and data dictionaries; mentoring analysts and partner consultants.
You will be the person People, Finance, IT, and Engineering call when data doesn't land where it should. This role requires presence in the San Francisco or San Jose office 4 days per week; Tuesday is Lambda's designated work-from-home day.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years in HRIS, enterprise integration, or systems architecture, with at least 6+ years designing and building Workday integrations.
- Taken at least one full Workday HCM implementation live as the integration lead or architect, including payroll and benefits integrations.
- Expert with EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio, Workday Web Services (SOAP and REST), RaaS and custom reports, calculated fields, XSLT/XPath, and integration security (ISUs, ISSGs, OAuth/API clients).
- Hands-on experience with an iPaaS or middleware platform (Workato strongly preferred; Boomi, MuleSoft, or similar also valued).
- Have built or supported payroll, benefits carrier, 401(k), and tax filing integrations; understand data, timing, and reconciliation challenges. Experience with PECI/PICOF or Global Payroll Connect integrations for multi-country payroll strongly preferred.
- Strong SQL and data modeling skills; comfort with file formats and transport (JSON, XML, CSV, SFTP, APIs, webhooks); rigorous approach to data validation and reconciliation.
- Have operated in a SOX or audit-facing environment; understand change control, access reviews, and evidence requirements for integrations moving sensitive employee and compensation data.
- Design for failure, test thoroughly, document what you build, and never move integration changes into production without validation.
- Comfortable translating between People, Finance, Payroll, IT, Security, and Engineering.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and velocity at a pre-IPO company.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Workday Pro certifications in Integrations, Studio, Payroll, or HCM.
- Experience migrating from Rippling or another all-in-one HR/payroll platform to Workday.
- Experience with international payroll providers (ADP Celergo, CloudPay, Papaya Global, Deel) and employer-of-record arrangements.
- Familiarity with NetSuite, Okta, Lumos, Workato, BigQuery.
- IPO readiness experience, including integration control design and equity compensation data flows.
- Experience using AI tooling to accelerate integration testing, documentation, mapping, or reconciliation.
