Salary: CAD 107,100 - 130,900 / annual
Relay is a digital banking platform for self-made business owners, providing tools for financial clarity and cash flow management. The Web Development team builds and maintains relayfi.com, handling organic search, AI-driven discovery, and paid traffic conversion into new accounts.
As Senior Web Developer, you will lead complex web projects end-to-end, from technical planning through launch and post-launch optimization. You'll own architectural decisions around server/client boundaries, caching, revalidation, and CDN behavior. Your responsibilities include:
- Project Ownership: Lead multi-part projects with cross-functional coordination, define scope and milestones, measure performance post-launch, and iterate on improvements.
- Technical Architecture: Make thoughtful decisions balancing performance, scalability, and technical debt while proactively simplifying systems and improving maintainability.
- Performance & SEO: Proactively improve site performance, accessibility, security, and technical SEO including structured data, metadata, and semantic markup for search and AI discoverability.
- Content Platform Development: Build and optimize integrations between the headless CMS (Contentful) and front end, developing scalable content models that empower non-technical teams.
- AI-Driven Development: Build and integrate AI workflows and agents to improve development efficiency, from automated code reviews to design-to-component generation, with appropriate testing guardrails.
- Measurement & Experimentation: Build analytics, event tracking, attribution, feature flags, and A/B testing infrastructure. Own integrations between website, marketing tools, and CRM systems.
- Code Quality & Testing: Set high standards for maintainable, performant code. Define testing strategies across unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Cross-Functional Leadership & Mentorship: Serve as technical partner to Marketing, Design, Product, and external agencies. Mentor developers through pairing and code reviews.
The tech stack includes Next.js, React, TypeScript (strict mode), Tailwind, and Contentful. You'll work in a small, high-impact team moving fast while maintaining high performance and accessibility standards.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of front-end development experience, ideally in high-growth B2B SaaS or fintech
- Strong proficiency in React, Next.js, Node, and TypeScript (strict mode essential)
- Modern front-end architecture expertise: server/client boundaries, caching, revalidation, CDN behavior
- Proficiency in Tailwind and experience with design systems, reusable components, and headless CMS platforms
- Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility, and technical SEO: Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS), image optimization, bundle analysis, WCAG 2.1 AA, semantic HTML, metadata, structured data, sitemaps, heading hierarchy
- Active use of AI tools and workflows with judgment to evaluate outputs and maintain code quality
- Strong project management and communication skills for cross-functional leadership
- Proactive problem-solving mindset with ability to think beyond individual tasks and anticipate downstream impacts

- Experience with analytics and experimentation tools (Segment, GTM, Statsig, HubSpot)
- AWS Amplify Hosting or similar CI/CD platforms
- End-to-end testing with Playwright
