As a Senior Staff Software Engineer on the Tooling team, you will design and enhance internal developer tools and systems that empower Verkada's engineering, sales, and support teams. This is a high-impact individual contributor role focused on infrastructure and developer productivity.
Key responsibilities include:
- Migrating common developer actions from local machines to cloud-based systems
- Improving license handling and management systems
- Refactoring monolithic support tools into smaller, more maintainable services
- Enhancing the feature flags system for better control and observability
- Building AI-powered tools to improve developer workflows
- Developing tools that strengthen security and privacy posture
- Contributing to open-source infrastructure systems used by Verkada
You will work at the frontier of infrastructure and software development, collaborating with teams across the organization to solve complex tooling challenges. The role is based in San Mateo, CA with a commitment to in-office culture.
Requirements:
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or similar technical field
- Experience and enthusiasm for learning new infrastructure products, features, and strategies
- Comfort working at the frontier of infrastructure and software development
- Proficiency in Python and/or Go
- Experience with major cloud platforms (preferably AWS)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Preferred: Terraform, Kubernetes, and service mesh (Istio) experience
