Salary: USD 228,000 - 363,000 / annual
Suno is building the world's first creative entertainment platform for music creation, backed by leading investors including NVIDIA Ventures, Union Square Ventures, and Menlo Ventures. The company is the fastest-growing consumer entertainment company and leader in AI music.
You will join a small, high-ownership engineering team building the backend and data infrastructure for Suno's song creation agent—a system that takes plain-language requests, plans multi-step execution, and orchestrates calls to music models and audio tools. This is a full-stack AI engineering role focused on making nondeterministic systems reliable and measurable before they ship to millions of users.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and operate the backend for an AI agent that handles multi-step requests and tool calling at scale
- Design evaluation frameworks, datasets, and release gates to validate agent behavior and decide what ships
- Develop data pipelines that feed the agent and its evaluation systems, collaborating with ML engineers
- Create internal tools and dashboards for running and reviewing evaluations
- Share on-call and launch support for a high-traffic production system
- Help scale the team as it grows, ramping new engineers
- Ship features that enable users to turn creative ideas into music
This role demands ownership, intensity, and comfort with ambiguity on a small production team. You'll have a real say in how the agent is built and a direct impact on the product millions use daily.
REQUIREMENTS
Must-haves:
- 4–6 years building and scaling general backend systems in production (any language): services at scale, observability, on-call ownership
- Shipped and operated an LLM-powered agent or feature in production (external or internal users) with multi-step tool calling
- Built evaluations for nondeterministic systems (regression sets, graders, LLM judges) and used results to decide what ships
- Comfortable on small production teams: handling ambiguity, unblocking yourself, working with ML engineers, PMs, and partner teams
Nice-to-haves:
- Python backend experience
- Internal tools or dashboards in TypeScript and React for reviewing model output
- Audio, music, or media generation systems experience
- LLM tracing and observability tools experience
Must be eligible to work in the US. Role is in-office at Suno's SF office 5 days per week.
