Salary: USD 185,000 - 254,000 / annual
Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Zero Trust team, working on the Zero Trust desktop client that protects corporate devices by securely routing traffic through Cloudflare's global network to apply advanced web filtering and Zero Trust policies.
You will predominantly use Rust along with platform-native languages and APIs to implement high-performance networking code across multiple desktop platforms. Your responsibilities include improving code quality, building solid, testable, and well-documented foundations, and making significant contributions to the design and implementation of major development projects. You will work closely with product managers and other teams to implement customer-impacting features, tackling stimulating problems born from the scale of Cloudflare's deployment and its stringent quality, performance, and security requirements.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you are expected to mentor engineers, raise the team's technical bar through code review and knowledge sharing, own technical designs end-to-end, write specifications and design documents that coordinate work across teams, and debug and resolve complex issues spanning team and system boundaries.
You will interact with multiple languages including Swift, C#, C, and Python, and should be comfortable with multithreaded, asynchronous code and debugging network-related problems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- In-depth knowledge of Windows internals, kernel-mode programming, and network protocols
- Experience in low-level Windows driver development, ideally network drivers
- Excellent programming skills with experience writing high-quality, low-complexity code with thorough documentation
- Strong experience writing easily-testable and thoroughly-tested code (e.g., using dependency injection with appropriate abstractions)
- Great experience using lower-level languages such as Rust, C, or C++
- Very comfortable writing multithreaded, asynchronous code
- Strong experience debugging network-related problems
- Understanding of VPN technologies and trade-offs between privacy, security, and anonymity
- Good understanding of and experience with security protocols and standards
- Experience mentoring engineers and raising technical bar through code review and knowledge sharing
- Experience owning technical designs end-to-end, writing specs and design docs coordinating work across engineers and teams
- Track record of debugging and resolving complex issues spanning team and system boundaries
