Justworks is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Solutions Engineering to lead technical discovery and implementation of partner integrations. This role sits at the intersection of APIs, developer experience, and real-world integration challenges. You will independently lead technical solutioning for priority partner integrations, including API research, data mapping, authentication flows, and architecture decisions. You'll build and maintain high-quality developer ecosystem capabilities such as SDKs, documentation, sample apps, and integration templates. A key part of the role is creating reusable patterns for common integration needs (OAuth, webhooks, retries, idempotency, error handling, observability) and running technical working sessions with partners to translate complex requirements into clear action plans. You'll own multi-surface developer journeys or partner integration portfolios from design through delivery and iteration. You'll improve developer self-service by using support questions, telemetry, and feedback to prioritize documentation, SDK features, product enhancements, or platform requests. The role includes mentoring teammates, reviewing designs and code, and collaborating with Security, Support, and other stakeholders to ensure integrations are safe, observable, and supportable. Success at Justworks requires good judgment (balancing partner urgency with long-term maintainability), resourcefulness (finding clear routes through ambiguity), strong teamwork and communication, technical leadership through depth and mentoring, and continuous improvement in modern API integration practices. You'll model the company's COGIS values—Camaraderie, Openness, Grit, Integrity, and Simplicity. Qualifications: - 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems - Strong experience consuming, integrating with, or building HTTP APIs; practical understanding of OAuth 2.0/OIDC, API authentication, tokens and scopes, webhooks, pagination, rate limits, and error handling - Backend and/or full-stack web development experience in modern languages such as TypeScript, Go, Ruby, or Python - Experience designing reliable integration behavior: retries, idempotency, asynchronous workflows, data contracts, monitoring, and incident/debugging practices - Clear technical writing and ability to explain architecture and tradeoffs to engineers, product partners, and external developers - Evidence of delivering customer-facing or developer-facing experiences with high usability and documentation standards - Strong collaboration skills and comfort working across Engineering, Product, Partnerships, Sales, Support, and Security Nice to have: SDK maintenance experience, developer portal/API documentation/CLI/sample application experience, open source library maintenance, integration marketplace experience, experience in regulated or high-trust domains, OpenAPI/API-client generation/event-driven systems/workflow engine experience, or direct work with enterprise technical stakeholders. Tech stack includes TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, Ruby, AWS, containers, relational data stores, observability tooling, OpenAPI, and OAuth/OIDC.
