As a Senior Software Engineer, Robotics (Manipulation focus), you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the capabilities of robotic solutions. Your work will involve developing advanced software that enables robots to interact with their environments in completing complex, real-world tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and support advanced robotic manipulation software deployed in production environments
- Create high-performance software solutions for robotic manipulation, focusing on motion planning, kinematics, control strategies, and motion execution
- Utilize and extend simulation software environments to test and refine manipulation development, ensuring robust performance
- Work closely with hardware engineers, product managers, and other software teams to integrate capabilities into broader robotic systems
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
- Clearly and proactively communicate technical priorities and status
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or closely related field
- 4+ years of professional software development experience in a production environment
- Strong development expertise in Python
- Understanding of parallel/distributed systems and asynchronous/concurrent programming
- Experience designing and implementing software and algorithms for motion planning, motion execution, multi-arm coordination, robotic kinematics, and/or environment representation
- Experience designing and developing RESTful interfaces, gRPC services/clients
- Familiarity with system design principles and design patterns
- Strong drive to deliver well-designed, well-implemented, and well-tested solutions
- Ability to handle ambiguous or ill-defined problems, and scope, plan, and implement solutions
- Experience with version control (Git), code reviews, issue tracking (Jira), and automated testing (unit, integration, hardware-in-the-loop)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or closely related field
- 6+ years of experience in software development in a production environment
- Experience with ROS/ROS2
- Experience with development and integration of drivers for robotic hardware, particularly robotic arms
- Familiarity with robotics simulation tools and test environments
- Familiarity with the Linux ecosystem
- Familiarity with Python's asyncio library
- Programming experience in C++
- Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB)
