Kraken, a leading crypto exchange and financial platform under parent company Payward, is seeking a Senior React Native Engineer to join the Consumer Mobile team. The team builds the Kraken mobile app, used by over 10 million individuals and institutions globally to access spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services.
In this role, you will own features end-to-end—from understanding client problems and shaping solutions through implementation, launch, and iteration. You'll work closely with Product and Design teams to turn ambiguous problems into thoughtful, intuitive mobile experiences. Your responsibilities include:
- Building high-quality React Native experiences in a financial product where responsiveness, reliability, and trust are critical
- Partnering with Product and Design early in the development process to contribute engineering perspectives
- Working with APIs and real-time data to create responsive, data-rich mobile experiences
- Making thoughtful architectural decisions around state management, rendering, performance, and overall codebase structure
- Using metrics, experimentation, and client feedback to drive improvements and measure impact
- Raising the product-engineering bar across the team through technical discussions, code reviews, and demonstrated product ownership
- Operating with versatility, comfortable moving between product problems and technical challenges, and using AI tools thoughtfully to move faster

REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong production React Native experience: you've built and shipped meaningful applications and are comfortable making architectural and implementation decisions
- Product-building mindset with strong product judgment; ability to start with client problems rather than tickets and work effectively with Product and Design
- Evidence of product impact: ability to explain what you built, why, and what happened afterward using metrics and client behavior
- End-to-end ownership across feature lifecycle: discovery, technical design, implementation, launch, measurement, and iteration
- Comfort with data-rich applications and APIs; experience working with dynamic or real-time data
- Strong collaboration skills with Product and Design; effective written and verbal English communication across distributed teams
- Versatility and proficiency with AI tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude, etc.); comfort moving beyond narrowly defined engineering remits
- Track record of turning loosely defined product problems into features with measurable client impact
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience in fintech, trading, crypto, payments, or financial technology
- Understanding of trading, investing, or financial products
- Experience with real-time or streaming data and rapidly changing interfaces
- Cross-platform experience (mobile and web)
- Startup or small-to-medium-sized company background
- Native mobile experience in Swift or Kotlin
- Performance optimization and reliability improvements across mobile devices
