Celonis is the trusted platform for industrializing Enterprise AI. The company's core product is the Celonis Context Model, which combines process data, business knowledge, and intelligence into a living digital twin of the enterprise that AI can understand. You will join the Core squad of the Process Query Engine team, which owns an analytical database at the heart of Celonis's process mining capabilities. This team handles enterprise-scale data sets and is continuously expanding to meet growing customer demands.
In this role, you will develop and implement new concepts and algorithms for the Process Query Engine, a highly parallelized and distributed database system. You'll take ownership of solutions to increase reliability and performance, and drive initiatives that shape future innovations. Your responsibilities include:
- Develop new concepts and algorithms for data management and query execution
- Challenge and benchmark solutions using performance engineering principles
- Shape and contribute to development and maintenance processes
- Communicate and coordinate with stakeholders and customers
- Take responsibility for the performance, scalability, and reliability of solutions
- Support problem-solving and optimization efforts
- Mentor project teams and junior engineers
- Lead projects and define technical roadmaps
- Own end-to-end solutions from problem definition through delivery
You will work with a talented engineering team using modern C++ and Java to build systems that handle the strong growth of Celonis's customer base. The role offers ownership from day one, including Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) and merit-based refresh grants. REQUIREMENTS:
- University degree in Computer Science or comparable education
- Experience in system programming with modern C++ (other languages, particularly Java, are a plus)
- Solid knowledge in one or more of: Parallel Computing, Distributed Systems, or Database Internals
- 5+ years of experience in software development for productive systems (at senior level)
- Experience in cloud engineering, Linux systems, infrastructure as code, build systems, and performance monitoring is a plus
- Analytical mindset with strong understanding of performance and algorithms
- Excellent English communication skills; German is a plus
