Distributed Spectrum builds systems that power next-generation radio spectrum intelligence by collecting global radio data, training neural networks to decipher it, and deploying models on embedded systems. The company has developed a proprietary stack including custom embedding model architectures, GPU kernels, and specialized infrastructure.
As Senior Software Engineer, Platform Engineering, you will own the infrastructure foundation that enables the entire organization to deploy reliably and frequently. You'll be responsible for designing and operating cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code principles, ensuring reproducibility and ease of evolution. Your CI/CD ownership spans build pipelines, artifact management, testing gates, progressive delivery strategies, and rollback mechanisms for services, ML models, and data jobs.
Key responsibilities include automating infrastructure scaling and deployments for GPU and CPU workloads, implementing capacity planning and cost controls, and embedding security throughout the platform via secrets management, IAM, vulnerability scanning, and policy-as-code. You'll build observability as a platform capability—metrics, logs, tracing, alerting, and SLOs—that product engineers can adopt with minimal friction. You'll operate large-scale cloud deployments reliably, manage incident response, and create developer tooling and paved paths so engineers can ship safely without becoming infrastructure experts.
The role requires deep technical expertise and operational maturity. You'll work in a collaborative, talent-dense team with decades of combined experience in probabilistic ML, accelerated computing, embedded systems, and signal theory. The culture emphasizes high ownership, intellectual honesty, fast learning, and adaptability.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles supporting production systems at meaningful scale
- Hands-on DevSecOps experience integrating security scanning, secrets handling, access control, and compliance checks into delivery pipelines
- Deep experience with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Buildkite, ArgoCD, Jenkins, etc.) and deployment strategies (blue/green, canary, feature flags)
- Strong experience with AWS (or GCP/Azure) at scale—compute, networking, storage, IAM, managed Kubernetes, cost management
- Expert-level infrastructure-as-code skills with Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation/CDK, or similar; plus configuration management or GitOps workflows
- Production experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm), including autoscaling and multi-environment management
- Solid programming ability in Python, Go, or Bash for automation and tooling
- Strong operational instincts: think about failure modes, blast radius, and recoverability before incidents occur
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience running GPU workloads and ML infrastructure in the cloud
- Experience with compliance frameworks and secure/air-gapped deployments (FedRAMP, CMMC, IL environments)
- Familiarity with edge/hybrid deployments coordinating cloud infrastructure with on-device or on-prem systems
- Experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Datadog)
