Cast AI is an automation platform that operates cloud-native and AI infrastructure at scale, embedding autonomous decision-making directly into Kubernetes and cloud environments to continuously optimize performance, reliability, and efficiency in production. The company recently achieved unicorn status (valuation >$1B) with backing from Pacific Alliance Ventures and operates across 34 countries. The Platform Engineering team builds and maintains the internal infrastructure "paved road" for Cast AI's engineering organization. This is an internal-facing role where your users are Cast AI's own engineers. The team acts as a multiplier: whatever you build is built once and serves every team, freeing product teams from infrastructure work so they can focus on developing their products. You will own whether the tools engineers use to build, deploy, and observe their services are reliable and performant enough to support hundreds of engineers and dozens of services simultaneously. The platform must be fast, correct, and operationally boring in the best sense. Key responsibilities include: - Design, build, and operate the CI/CD pipelines every engineering team ships through - Build and maintain observability and monitoring tooling (Grafana, VictoriaMetrics, Loki, Tempo) that other teams use to debug production systems - Build local development environment tooling that lets engineers reproduce production-like conditions on their laptop - Reduce friction for every other team by identifying where engineers lose time to infrastructure and fixing it at the root - Debug complex issues spanning CI/CD, observability, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure - Contribute to platform roadmap and backlog, shaping what gets built next - Participate in on-call rotation Tools used daily: Go, Kubernetes, GCP/AWS/Azure, Terraform, ClickHouse, GCP Pub/Sub, gRPC, REST APIs, Grafana, VictoriaMetrics, VictoriaLogs, VictoriaTraces, Loki, Tempo, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, Kargo. Compensation includes competitive salary (€6,500–€9,000 gross depending on experience), separate on-call compensation, equity options, flexible remote-first environment, 10% time for personal projects, learning budget including conference access, annual hackathon, team-building budget, equipment budget, and extra days off. Onboarding travel to Vilnius is covered. REQUIREMENTS: - Strong software engineering fundamentals: design clean abstractions, write maintainable code, justify architecture choices - Production experience with Go strongly preferred; without Go, demonstrate strong systems programming skills in a comparable language - Hands-on platform engineering experience: built and operated (not just consumed) most of: CI/CD and GitOps systems (GitLab CI, Argo CD, Kargo), infrastructure as code (Terraform), container orchestration (Kubernetes, Helm), observability and monitoring tooling (VictoriaMetrics, Grafana, Loki, Tempo), cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) - Experience with AI coding agents and agentic development workflows - Personally driven a complex project end-to-end - Strong debugging, optimization, and performance-tuning skills - Strong English skills, verbal and written - Startup mindset: adaptable, proactive, comfortable with ambiguity - Willing to participate in on-call rotation Nice to have: - Kubernetes operators, Helm chart authoring, admission webhooks - Internal developer platform (IDP) design: golden paths, self-service tooling, service catalogs - Local development environment tooling (devcontainers, Tilt, Skaffold, or similar) - Kubernetes or cloud-native open-source contributions
