ARQ is a fast-growing fintech building infrastructure to move value seamlessly across borders. The Platform team is seeking a world-class, hands-on Senior Software Engineer to architect and build engineering infrastructure that powers a modern, high-growth financial services company.
You will design and implement the secure, highly-available infrastructure layer supporting ARQ's product engineering organization. Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement secure, highly-available infrastructure for a modern financial services company
- Enable rapid infrastructure provisioning through shared Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) libraries, CLI tools, and codebase patterns
- Analyze and debug infrastructure issues and opportunities with the wider engineering team
- Strategize and execute rollout techniques for sweeping infrastructure changes, integrating new best practices and security improvements
- Orchestrate multi-region infrastructure and deployments to meet security, availability, and compliance requirements
- Build, maintain, and optimize high-volume CI infrastructure with reusable pipeline templates for microservices architecture
- Implement GitOps workflows for declarative application deployments
- Improve application monitoring and alerting using Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana
ARQ's engineering culture emphasizes fully type-safe, declarative, and testable infrastructure as code. The team orchestrates hundreds of backend services and databases across tens of Kubernetes clusters, tens of thousands of data processing jobs, and tens of thousands of CI/CD builds per week.
The ideal candidate has a raw passion for programming, broad technical knowledge, and the ability to dig deeply into any technical area. You should take a software engineer's approach to infrastructure, valuing systems thinking, methodical debugging, collaboration, clear documentation, and pragmatism in balancing technical excellence with practical delivery.
REQUIREMENTS:
Required Experience:
- Strong background in full-cycle software development; comfortable building customer-facing APIs and provisioning Kubernetes clusters
- Experience driving architecture and implementation of large-scale, distributed production systems
- Fluent in at least one modern typed language (TypeScript, Go, Rust, or Java); you write code, not just config
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, CI/CD, and sophisticated IaC tools (Pulumi, Terraform, or CDK)
- Deep understanding of modern cyber-security attack vectors and ability to bake "secure-by-default" patterns into the platform
Nice to Have:
- TypeScript fluency and experience with systems ensuring infrastructure safety
- Experience working in regulated environments or high-compliance industries
- Familiarity with scaling data engineering pipelines and distributed databases
- Experience with GitOps tools like ArgoCD or Flux for declarative, state-driven deployments
