Okta's Auth0 Platform Observability team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead observability tooling and infrastructure that monitors the Auth0 platform. This role focuses on ensuring Product and Platform Engineers can effectively monitor and observe the platform while shipping software at scale. You will own and maintain observability tooling across metrics, logs, and traces, working to ensure platform stability and uptime. As a Senior Engineer, you will act as a core technical leader, working cross-functionally to integrate services with instrumentation libraries, support product teams, and actively investigate incidents to identify observability gaps. You will provision and configure cloud-native infrastructure, design and maintain scalable observability infrastructure using tools like Terraform, troubleshoot performance and operational issues, and automate operational tasks. You will participate in major incident response to diagnose root causes and drive cross-team initiatives to improve instrumentation and observability standards across the broader engineering organization. This is an opportunity to do career-defining work on infrastructure that powers identity and AI security at scale. The role requires someone passionate about monitoring, measuring uptime and availability, and ensuring platform stability, with a background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or Development Operations (DevOps). QUALIFICATIONS: - 5+ years of platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps experience - Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) - Expertise in the Datadog ecosystem (Metrics, Logs, Traces, Error Tracking), including alerting standards, tagging taxonomies, and Datadog configuration via Terraform - Strong coding skills in Node.js or Golang - Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes) - Data-driven approach to debugging complex, cross-service performance bottlenecks - Deep understanding of microservice architecture and best practices - Experience coaching and mentoring junior engineers - Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives and collaborate with multiple engineering teams - Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry (OTel), Vector, or similar instrumentation frameworks
