Salary: CAD 144,000 - 176,000 / annual
Relay is a digital banking platform designed to help self-made business owners manage their finances with clarity and confidence. The company is building banking products that serve millions of small businesses, replacing financial guesswork with real visibility into cash flow.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will own features across the full development lifecycle—from design and development through testing, deployment, and monitoring. You'll manage production systems, optimize infrastructure, and contribute to the availability, scalability, and resilience of the platform. You'll partner with Product, Design, and cross-functional teams to build solutions that meet customer and business needs, and proactively identify areas for technical, process, and product improvement to influence technical direction and long-term strategy.
You'll work across a modern tech stack: React and TypeScript on the front-end, Node.js and TypeScript on the back-end, with AWS services (DynamoDB, RDS Postgres, Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, SES, ElasticSearch, ECS), Terraform for infrastructure, and tools like Cursor, Claude, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Datadog, Jira, and Metabase.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of full-stack software engineering experience
- Led development of significant components or features with minimal oversight
- Mentor junior engineers and foster team growth
- Proactively drive enhancements in code quality, performance, and development processes
- Lifelong learner, curious about new frameworks and best practices
- Thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments; comfortable with ambiguity and change
- Collaborative team player; take end-to-end ownership with customer and business impact in mind
BONUS (not required):
- Experience in startups or high-growth tech companies
- JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js experience
- Working knowledge of AWS services and continuous deployment pipelines
