Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced autonomous systems and AI. The Maritime Division is scaling at historic pace, anchored by Arsenal-2, a new software-defined shipyard in Baltimore County, Maryland, as part of a $6.6 billion investment in America's submarine industrial base. The Proto-Factory in Orange County, California serves as the prototyping hub, proving out advanced manufacturing methods and digital workflows. In this role, you will own the software stack enabling maritime autonomous vehicles to understand their environment, make decisions, and execute missions. Reporting to the Mission Systems Lead, you will work across three core areas: perception pipelines that transform sonar, radar, and EO/IR sensor data into situational awareness; planning algorithms that decompose mission objectives into executable plans; and runtime execution software that manages mission state and handles contingencies when operators are unreachable. You will leverage both technical expertise and leadership skills to set objectives, build cross-functional teams, and drive rapid completion of highly optimized multi-disciplinary projects. Your responsibilities include designing and implementing sensor processing pipelines for sonar, radar, and EO/IR; building object detection and classification algorithms for maritime environments; developing multi-target tracking systems for real-time situational awareness; integrating platform position and attitude into mission context; designing mission objective decomposition algorithms; building resource allocation and constraint satisfaction systems; developing operator-facing planning interfaces; designing behavior execution software; building real-time decision-making systems; developing contingency handling and failure response logic; managing mission state across complex multi-phase operations; integrating mission systems with platform control and vehicle systems; characterizing and improving performance against operational requirements; and supporting testing and field deployment. REQUIREMENTS: - 7+ years in autonomous systems software, robotics, perception, or real-time systems - Experience building software for field-deployed autonomous systems - Depth in at least one of perception, mission planning, or runtime mission execution, with working knowledge of the others - Proficiency in real-time software development with stringent timing requirements - Demonstrated ability to handle complex state management in production systems - Ability to translate operational mission requirements into software requirements - Ability to characterize system performance and drive measurable improvements - Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance - Ability to receive, process, and disposition encrypted data PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Maritime or underwater autonomy experience - Sonar or radar signal processing background - Experience with behavior frameworks for autonomous systems - ROS or equivalent robotics middleware background - Experience in planning or scheduling algorithm development for autonomous systems - Military C2 software background - Defense applications background
