Kimchi Studio is a desktop application that brings autonomous coding agents, model orchestration, and developer toolchains into one collaborative UI. The product enables multiple agents to work on separate branches side by side with native git worktree support, with every agent action visible, diffable, and undoable. It operates local-first on your machine with remote sessions available when needed.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Kimchi team, you will own features end-to-end: design, implementation, testing, and production rollout. Most projects ship in 1–4 weeks. You'll work directly with product and other engineering teams on problems that don't have textbook solutions.
Kimchi started inside Cast AI, helping companies run LLMs on their own Kubernetes clusters. Today the team runs its own coding harness on any LLM you choose, and is building the next generation of developer tooling around AI agents.
The role is full-stack: TypeScript for the product layer (Electron/React UI, Node services) and Go for the backend. You'll need to be strong in one language and ready to go deep in the other. You'll also need deep debugging and performance instincts—when the app janks or a query slows down, you find the cause through query profiles and flame graphs. You care about UX, speed, and polish; in a desktop app every millisecond is visible.
The team is remote-first and global. You'll have a flexible work environment, 10% time for personal projects or self-improvement, a learning budget for conferences and courses, an annual hackathon, team-building budget, equipment budget, and extra days off to maintain work-life balance. The company offers equity options and does not provide visa sponsorship.
**Requirements:**
- You've personally driven a complex product feature from idea to shipped, with receipts to show for it.
- Full-stack engineering capability: strong in TypeScript (Electron/React UI, Node services) or Go (backend), with readiness to go deep in the other.
- Deep debugging and performance instincts; ability to diagnose performance issues using query profiles and flame graphs.
- Strong care for UX, speed, and polish.
- Bonus: experience shipping Electron apps at scale (updates, code signing, multi-platform builds), Kubernetes internals, or building AI workflows and harnesses.
