ARQ is a fast-growing fintech building cross-border payment infrastructure and financial services. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, high-performing backend systems powering the company's innovative products. You'll collaborate with a talented team to create solutions that drive financial inclusion and transform how people manage money globally.
You'll work on greenfield development and improvement of existing systems, including building REST APIs, engineering microservices, and evolving critical business systems such as card payments, treasury management, transaction booking, and crypto liquidity. The technology stack is predominantly Java 25 on the backend with Postgres databases, using Spring Boot for rapid and quality delivery. The team emphasizes clean code, maintainability, and fast iteration through test-driven development (TDD), domain-driven design (DDD), and continuous integration & delivery practices.
The role offers the opportunity to shape product, culture, and growth at an early-stage, high-impact company. You'll work 3–4 days per week in the Krakow office.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrable experience in backend development with fluency in Java
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or other Engineering/Science disciplines
- Quick learner with ambitious, results-driven personality and excellent communication skills (English fluency, verbal and written)
- Track record of building complex products used by millions in hypergrowth startups
