Salary: CAD 166,000 - 195,000 / annual
Robinhood is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to drive the company's global expansion initiatives. You will be a core technical contributor to building and scaling Robinhood's platform across international markets, bridging high-performance frontend interfaces with resilient backend distributed systems.
In this role, you will architect and deliver localized customer experiences spanning multi-currency funding, international onboarding, identity verification (KYC/AML), and region-specific trading capabilities. You will design reusable, extensible platform abstractions that enable Robinhood to scale seamlessly into new jurisdictions while maintaining uncompromising standards for security, availability, and compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining high-quality frontend interfaces (React/TypeScript) and robust backend services (Go/Python)
- Owning technical delivery of critical international capabilities including localized onboarding funnels, identity verification, multi-currency funding rails, and region-specific trading experiences
- Building and optimizing high-leverage growth mechanisms, localized promotion engines, and user acquisition pipelines
- Architecting modular, scalable internationalization (i18n/l10n) frameworks and services to accelerate expansion into future jurisdictions
- Ensuring backend services and localized products are built for high availability, low latency, and fault tolerance; implementing comprehensive telemetry and automated testing
- Participating in production on-call rotations
- Partnering closely with Product Management, Product Design, Compliance, Legal, and Platform teams to translate jurisdictional requirements into elegant technical solutions
You will work from the Toronto office with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. Robinhood emphasizes the value of in-person collaboration to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen team community.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and operating production systems across the full stack
- Proficiency with modern frontend technologies and frameworks (e.g., React, TypeScript) with emphasis on performance, accessibility, and state management
- Strong experience building scalable distributed services in Go or Python, utilizing relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis), and working with event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka)
- Proven track record of taking complex features from ambiguity through technical design, phased rollout, production validation, and post-launch maintenance
- Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, gRPC, service-oriented architectures, and microservice integration patterns
- Clear, structured communication skills to articulate trade-offs, drive technical consensus across distributed teams, and align with non-technical stakeholders
