Salary: USD 196,000 - 217,000 / annual
Muon Space, a LEO satellite constellation provider founded in 2021, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join the Information Systems team. This hybrid role (3 days/week on-site in San Jose) focuses on developing mission-critical internal software and platforms that reduce manual tasks, enable rapid team workflows, optimize factory efficiency, and support flawless launch operations.
You will own end-to-end software development from concept through delivery and maintenance, working with modern methodologies and tools. Key responsibilities include hands-on full-stack development, designing information systems architecture (technology selection, buy-vs-build decisions), and integrating core systems such as custom ERP, PLM, MES, and supply chain platforms to automate handoffs between functions. You'll be expected to adapt as company needs evolve, moving fluidly between low-level coding and higher-level project leadership.
The Information Systems team manages a comprehensive suite of custom software, vendor solutions, data platforms, and automated tools that serve the entire organization. Note: This position requires access to export-controlled information and ITAR/EAR compliance. **Requirements:**
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of full-stack (frontend and backend) software engineering experience
- Proficiency in Python and JavaScript, with experience in common libraries such as React and Angular
- Experience selecting and deploying database technologies based on performance and feature needs (SQL/NoSQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, InfluxDB, etc.)
- Proficiency developing, versioning, and optimizing REST and GraphQL APIs
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with new challenges weekly
**Nice-to-have:**
- Modern space systems experience, including software ecosystems
- Proven success in high-growth startup environments
- End-to-end development experience from product concept to customer delivery
