In this Senior Software Engineer in Test role, you will be a key contributor to our testing and quality assurance strategy. You'll design, write, and implement integration, component, and UI tests across our interconnected system solutions. Your responsibilities include:
• Design and execute sophisticated test automation, including integration tests, component tests, UI tests, load tests, and test infrastructure
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Product Owners, and stakeholders to identify and prioritize test and automation opportunities that improve quality and customer experience
• Understand how key systems interoperate and design tests appropriate to the complexity, risk, and performance requirements of each system
• Identify, research, and report high-quality defects with extensive evidence and analysis
• Partner with developers to design systems for testability and pair on test planning
• Execute tests, triage results, and analyze findings in production, test, and development environments
• Establish test baselines and report on quality trends and metrics for your project/team
• Ensure tests are repeatable and can be executed and monitored by others
• Mentor and onboard less experienced team members; provide constructive feedback
• Perform advanced refactoring and proactively identify and tackle technical debt in automation
• Set test and automation direction at the project/service level and influence decision-making
• Provide technical advice on decisions impacting other teams; explore and propose new technologies
• Learn industry jargon and business concepts to understand the challenges our technology solves
• Communicate complicated concepts clearly to junior staff and educate the team on QA/automation best practices
You'll work within agile and DevOps environments, following SDLC processes including peer code reviews and technical preparations for scheduled releases.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 6+ years of testing experience in a software domain
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent years of experience
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in Java development
• Experience with OS X and Linux environments, Spring, AWS, Microservices, SQL, NoSQL, and GIT
• Experience working in scrum and DevOps environments
• Good understanding of agile application development lifecycle
• Broad knowledge of Computer Science concepts
• Ability to code in at least one language; exposure to multiple languages, testing frameworks, and tools
• Familiarity with the full stack of web development and proven history of web application development
• Understanding of secure application programming practices and vulnerabilities
• Strong understanding and practical experience with common design patterns
• Ability to solve business problems through creative and forward-looking solutions
• Ability to write clear, concise documentation
• Strong ability to mentor and guide junior developers and testers
• High-level debugging and problem-isolation skills
PREFERRED:
• Experience designing and building JSON or REST services
• Experience working with 3rd party APIs and AWS APIs
• Docker or other container experience
• Large-scale or distributed web application experience
• Test Driven Development and functional testing experience
