MX is a fintech company empowering financial institutions and their customers through intelligent financial technology. The company builds personal financial management (PFM) products including money management dashboards, embeddable budgeting and spending widgets, and personalized insights feeds that financial institutions embed in their digital banking apps.
You will join the Experiences team as a full-stack engineer, working on next-generation technologies that help billions of users connect with their finances. This is a core technical role where you'll estimate engineering efforts, design solutions, implement and test changes, deploy to production, and triage issues. You'll work alongside top engineering talent on systems handling data at massive scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Writing product and system development code across the full stack
- Participating in and leading design reviews with peers and stakeholders
- Reviewing code from other developers and enforcing best practices
- Delivering features end-to-end across React widgets, TypeScript libraries, and backend APIs
- Contributing to platform modernization: migrating from legacy Ruby on Rails to new TypeScript services, and modernizing frontends to current React/TypeScript stacks
- Designing, building, and operating LLM-powered product features (plain-language financial explanations, AI assistants for financial data)
- Applying privacy and security guardrails when LLMs handle financial data: PII redaction, access scoping, output validation, audit logging
- Making informed tradeoffs between model quality, latency, and cost
- Using and improving AI-assisted development workflows (coding agents, AI code review)
- Building and maintaining automated test coverage and observability for customer-facing services
- Triaging and resolving product issues by analyzing root causes
- Participating in system architecture discussions and technical design reviews
- Leading by example to elevate design, implementation, quality, and engineering practices
- Driving projects and initiatives to implement high-quality systems
- Influencing, coaching, and supporting engineers on the team with focus on feedback and growth
The role emphasizes versatility, leadership qualities, and enthusiasm for taking on new problems across the full stack. You'll manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables while collaborating closely with Product Managers to meet customer needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages
- 3+ years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products
- Professional full-stack experience: production React with TypeScript on the front end, plus building and operating backend services or APIs in at least one server-side language (Ruby on Rails or TypeScript on Node.js)
- Experience designing and consuming APIs (REST, RPC, or message-based), and working with caching, background jobs, and asynchronous or event-driven systems
- Hands-on experience shipping at least one feature or internal tool built on a large language model API
Preferred Requirements:
- Retrieval-augmented generation, agent or tool-use architectures, or protocols for exposing tools and data to models (e.g., MCP)
- Building LLM evaluation harnesses, regression suites for prompts, or guardrail layers; monitoring LLM cost, latency, and quality in production
- Experience with managed model platforms on major cloud providers (Vertex AI, Bedrock, Azure OpenAI)
- Front-end stack: React 18/19, MobX or Redux, Material UI, Vite, Vitest, Playwright, Storybook, design system contributions
- Backend stack: Ruby on Rails (including JRuby) with Sidekiq, TypeScript services on Bun or Node.js (Hono), Elixir/Phoenix, PostgreSQL, Redis, NATS or RabbitMQ, protobuf-based RPC
- Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling (Datadog, OpenTelemetry)
- Fintech, banking, or regulated-data domain experience
