DeepL is building the Operating System for Global Communication, with a focus on Language AI products. The company operates the entire AI stack in-house, from training LLMs on proprietary NVIDIA DGX SuperPODs to delivering real-time translation to over 100 million users and 200,000+ businesses globally.
You will join the Language Products Track, the core team building and expanding DeepL's flagship translation products. This includes the consumer web translator, Enterprise Customization Hub (Glossaries, Translation Memory, Style Rules), and complex multimedia localization workflows. The company is shifting from "Software-First" to "Product-First," hiring engineers who are product-obsessed and care deeply about user experience and business impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own core user-facing features end-to-end across primary translation products, from UI architecture to backend logic for parsing and translating complex document formats (PDF, Word, PowerPoint) without losing formatting
- Build interfaces and systems that feel instant and magical for B2C users while handling complex enterprise collaboration and localization workflows
- Make high-stakes technical decisions on state management, API integrations, and performance; prototype, measure user friction, and iterate rapidly
- Collaborate with Research, Product, and Design teams to translate AI constraints into intuitive UX; build transparency and performance metrics into the product
What We're Looking For:
- Product-first mindset: you care deeply about users, ask "why" before coding, and measure success by adoption and reduced friction
- Front-end heavy full-stack fluency: strong front-end engineer comfortable traversing the stack; proficient in React, Python, and C#/.NET Core
- High agency and bias for action: you unblock yourself and your team, profile bottlenecks, and write missing documentation
- System thinker for UI/UX: you understand that simple UIs hide backend complexity; can design systems handling large document states, complex terminology rules, and high browser performance
