As a Senior Software Engineer on the Global Actions team, you will design and build the Affinity System—a unified platform covering Saves, Collections, and Wishlists that replaces today's fragmented Favorites experience. This is a full-stack role spanning backend APIs, data models, and cross-platform React-based UI.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and build backend APIs and services covering collections, items, pagination, and batching that power Saves, Collections, and Wishlists
- Lead the migration from Favorites to Saved without losing user data across all platforms (web, mobile, desktop, console, VR)
- Build user-facing surfaces including the Saved Library and Collections pages in partnership with Product and Design teams
- Design for privacy and safety to ensure users only see content and Collections they're authorized to view
- Extend the system to new entity types as the platform grows
You will work in a systems-thinking capacity, tackling ambiguous problems like moderation, eligibility, and migration edge cases. The role thrives in cross-functional collaboration and includes mentoring opportunities.
Office presence is Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday onsite, with optional Monday and Friday presence.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience building full-stack systems, including backend, APIs, and frontend applications at scale
- Experience with React, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar technologies
- Experience with data modeling for systems with complex relationships, such as privacy and visibility rules
- Strong understanding of client-server architecture, data modeling, and API design at scale
- Ability to tackle ambiguous problems systematically
- Collaborative mindset and experience in cross-functional environments
