Salary: USD 173,000 - 255,000 / annual
Affirm is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own the frontend and full-stack development of authentication, verification, and fraud-prevention customer journeys. You will work across backend, web, and mobile interfaces to build high-availability, low-latency systems that Affirm customers rely on daily.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems and ensuring team support throughout delivery.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics during ideation, articulate technical constraints, and partner on decisions that balance risks and trade-offs.
- Proactively identify and advocate for project, process, technology, and business issues, then lead solutions.
- Support operations and availability of team artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and participating in on-call efforts.
- Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards, and advocating for them across the organization through writing and tech talks.
- Develop talent on your team through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience developing and architecting web applications using declarative UI frameworks (React, Vue, or similar).
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components with elegant, simple, and extensible design.
- Ability to write high-quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
- Demonstrated proficiency making significant changes in large codebases, with developed tools and practices enabling safe changes.
- Track record of taking ownership of your growth, proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills supporting effective collaboration with global engineering teams.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
