Zeta Global, a publicly traded AI-powered marketing technology company (NYSE: ZETA), is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate backend services for its Forecasting and Recommendations platforms. You will work on production-grade, high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems that power forecasting, recommendations, and Performance Advisor capabilities at scale.
In this hands-on role, you will own significant backend services and components from design through deployment and production support. Your responsibilities include designing and building scalable SaaS APIs, event-driven pipelines, data-processing services, and workflows that integrate machine-learning and AI capabilities. You will work with technologies such as Kafka, Elasticsearch, NoSQL databases (including Aerospike), and AWS cloud infrastructure to build resilient distributed systems.
You will collaborate closely with data science, platform, and product teams to integrate forecasting and recommendation capabilities into production systems. A key part of the role is championing observability and reliability through metrics, logging, tracing, alerting, and root-cause analysis. You will participate in production incident response, retrospectives, and systemic improvements, while identifying performance, scalability, and reliability risks early and contributing practical solutions.
As a senior-level contributor, you are expected to be a strong hands-on engineer who delivers high-quality software and sets a strong engineering example. You will take ownership of significant services and features, build deep domain understanding, simplify and improve existing systems, and mentor other engineers through code reviews and collaborative problem-solving.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 8–12 years of professional software engineering experience building and operating scalable, robust backend systems
- Strong track record of hands-on ownership of production services, with demonstrated improvements in performance, reliability, scalability, or cost
- Strong expertise in distributed systems design, including service boundaries, concurrency, data modeling, failure handling, and scalability tradeoffs
- Experience developing high-throughput, event-driven systems and backend APIs
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native system design and operations
- Experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch, NoSQL databases such as Aerospike, Thrift, and modern CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with container-based solutions and microservices architectures
- Proficiency in one or more backend languages commonly used for large-scale systems (Python, Java, Ruby, Go, or Scala)
- Strong object-oriented programming, system design, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Strongly preferred: Experience supporting machine-learning-driven systems, forecasting, recommendations, or similar data-driven applications
- Plus: Familiarity with modern AI-enabled applications, LLM integrations, or agentic workflows
