Alluxio is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to evolve its distributed data services platform. You will own the design and implementation of solutions for scaling systems to thousands of nodes while ensuring data durability and high availability. Your work will focus on solving challenging problems in distributed data services, memory and data structure efficiency, thread concurrency, locking optimizations, and caching policies.
In this role, you will:
- Develop innovative solutions for large-scale distributed system scaling with data durability and high availability guarantees
- Lead team members from concept through completion on complex technical initiatives
- Contribute to product architecture and implement technical direction in collaboration with product management
- Work on core challenges in distributed systems including concurrency, memory efficiency, and caching strategies
You are an experienced software engineer with a track record of creative problem-solving and the ability to guide others through complex technical work. You thrive in collaborative, fast-paced environments and have a passion for building robust, scalable systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 2+ years of software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages (Java, C/C++, Go, or similar)
- Demonstrated experience with two or more of: distributed and parallel systems, distributed storage systems, architecting large-scale software systems, or security software development
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Working proficiency in verbal and written English
PREFERRED:
- Experience contributing to or maintaining open source projects
- Ability and desire to work in fast-paced, collaborative, iterative programming environments
- Prior or current contributions to Alluxio
