Mecka AI is building the data infrastructure layer for robotics and embodied AI. The company designs and operates global systems for data capture, data labeling, and hardware-enabled workflows used by leading AI labs and robotics companies to train and validate humanoid and embodied AI systems. In this role, you will own the software that enables people to operate Mecka's connected hardware and use the data it produces. You'll be responsible for designing and maintaining services and operational tools for device teams, as well as APIs and SDKs for customers building with Mecka's hardware and data. Key responsibilities include: - Own service and API design for connected hardware and data-intensive workflows, including underlying data models - Ensure data accuracy and completeness while maintaining production service reliability across device and customer workflows - Build telemetry, diagnostics, and operational tools that help engineers understand device and service behavior - Develop APIs, SDKs, and command-line tools for hardware and data customers to integrate Mecka into their workflows - Implement asynchronous workflows that handle retries, duplicate events, and interrupted transfers predictably - Test complete user workflows end-to-end and maintain documentation, monitoring, and backward compatibility as the platform evolves - Debug across services, client software, and device interfaces, explaining system behavior clearly You'll work closely with frontier robotics teams to bridge real-world data, simulation, learning-based systems, and deployed hardware. As data collection grows, these systems must remain understandable and dependable, especially when devices disconnect, transfers stop, or services fail. REQUIREMENTS: Must-have: - 5+ years of software engineering experience - Strong backend programming and production service operations in Python, Go, or TypeScript - Depth in at least one of: service reliability (telemetry, monitoring, diagnostics, operational tooling for distributed systems); developer experience (APIs, SDKs, command-line tools, documentation, examples) - Experience designing APIs, data schemas, and databases with practical SQL and query performance knowledge - Understanding of distributed systems failure modes: retries, duplicate events, interrupted transfers, intermittent connectivity - Knowledge of authentication, authorization, automated testing, versioning, and release practices - Ability to debug across services, client software, and device interfaces Nice-to-have: - Experience with connected hardware or operational web applications - Experience building public SDKs or working with large video and sensor datasets
