Salary: USD 185,000 - 260,000 / annual

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Developer Platform team, you will design and build scalable architecture, tooling, and processes that enable Zip's engineering organization to ship enterprise-quality software at high velocity. You will take on a technical leadership role, providing design and architectural guidance across the company using techniques ranging from low-level systems optimizations (e.g., test acceleration) to large-scale rewrites leveraging AI-assisted codemods.
Your work will have immediate, visible impact on your coworkers—the hundreds of engineers you support will directly experience and provide feedback on your improvements. The team operates from a position of high leverage, where small improvements compound across the entire engineering organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead initiatives to ensure new features are performant and reliable, creating innovative frameworks to address unique testing challenges
- Accelerate software development by driving adoption of AI-driven tools (IDEs, code review systems, test generators)
- Drive velocity and productivity by diagnosing and removing friction across development environments, testing patterns, CI pipelines, deployment processes, and feature flag conventions
- Improve product quality and codebase health by analyzing legacy patterns and building new frameworks and guardrails to guide engineers toward better practices
- Optimize the customer experience by systematically improving frameworks and preventing issues at the platform layer
- Drive development of a new deploy and release process enabling daily deployments while safeguarding customers through canaries, traffic replay, and bundled feature releases for Enterprise customers

REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of software engineering experience
- BS or higher in Computer Science or related technical field (e.g., physics or math)
- Experience with modern CI tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Buildkite, Jenkins, and Docker
- Attention to detail with strong ownership mindset
- Ability to diagnose obstacles, debug friction, and drive velocity
