Salary: USD 196,750 - 243,290 / annual
Roblox is a platform where tens of millions of people explore, create, play, learn, and connect in 3D immersive digital experiences. The Consumer Apps Desktop team owns the Windows and macOS foundation for every Roblox session on PC and Mac—the window, launch path, and shell that holds everything together.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Desktop team, you will be a driving technical force leading complex client work end-to-end. You'll own major Windows and macOS initiatives from ambiguous idea through shipping, measurement, and iteration. Your responsibilities include:
- Shaping and improving the Windows and macOS experience for millions of daily players
- Owning major platform initiatives end-to-end, from concept to shipped and measured
- Rebuilding critical parts of the app that every player touches: launch flow, rendering, OS integration
- Setting technical standards through code review, mentorship, and your own code
- Making platform bets that benefit engineering teams beyond Desktop
- Translating ambiguous product ideas into well-scoped, high-quality engineering plans in partnership with product, design, and data science teams
- Collaborating with Microsoft and Apple counterparts to ensure feature parity and platform-specific excellence
You'll raise the quality bar across the codebase and work on a platform millions of people depend on daily.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years shipping client software with deep C++ expertise and ability to work effectively in large, established codebases (Lua/React experience is a plus)
- Significant experience releasing Windows or macOS applications with thorough knowledge of platform APIs
- Strong debugging and profiling skills: tracing, root-causing crashes, diagnosing performance problems across the full client stack and diverse consumer hardware
- Fluency with concurrency and memory; threading models and memory footprint are essential
- Data-driven mindset: using metrics, logging, and experiments to validate features
- Ability to break down ambiguous problems and drive them to completion; clear communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
