Elliptic is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Product-Engineering organization, focusing on data engineering solutions that power blockchain analytics and intelligence products. This is a hands-on role where you will spend the majority of your time designing, building, and shipping the data platform yourself while driving technical direction to meet growing demands in blockchain analysis.
You will architect and implement large-scale distributed data systems and pipelines that serve as the backbone of all Elliptic products. Key responsibilities include writing and maintaining production code, designing batch and streaming data solutions, collaborating across engineering, product, data science, and intelligence teams, and exploring new technologies like data orchestration and cloud-native tools to optimize performance and scalability. You will take shared ownership of data systems from design through deployment and ongoing support, perform thoughtful peer reviews, contribute to platform-wide reliability and observability initiatives, and help shape the technical roadmap for data engineering across the company.
The role emphasizes "adoptive" AI fluency—AI should have already changed how you work, not just how fast. You will leverage AI and agentic systems to operate more effectively. You will also mentor and upskill engineers, champion best practices, and hold yourself and your team to high standards.
The tech environment includes Scala, Spark, Databricks, AWS, Claude, Airflow, Kubernetes, and Terraform. WORK ARRANGEMENTS: Hybrid with the option to work from almost anywhere for up to 90 days per year. Remote work budget of $650 for home office setup.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Hands-on production experience with Scala and functional programming
- Ability to design, build, and maintain distributed data systems in cloud-based environments
- Hands-on experience with big data frameworks such as Spark or Databricks
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Judgment to balance scalability, performance, and maintainability
- Experience with data modeling and workflow orchestration
