The Customs Technology team is building systems to help businesses navigate complex international trade regulations, tariffs, and compliance requirements. This role focuses on automating customs brokerage workflows, integrating with government agencies, and leveraging AI/LLM agents to eliminate manual work for customs brokers and logistics teams.
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with business partners and product managers to translate complex customs and logistics problems into technical solutions
- Build systems modeling real-world logistics entities and cross-border cargo movement
- Ship products rapidly to production (dozens of deployments per day)
- Design and implement deep integrations with government agencies and external partners
- Automate archaic customs filing processes and reduce operational toil
- Create domain models for freight forwarding complexity
- Deliver supply chain analytics and insights to logistics teams
- Work with cutting-edge infrastructure: React/TypeScript, Kotlin microservices on Kubernetes, GraphQL, gRPC, Postgres, Kafka, Snowflake
The team values simple, well-tested, extensible code; rapid iteration; and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You'll work in the Amsterdam office 2–3 days per week, with flexibility for remote work.

REQUIREMENTS:
- ≥5 years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong fundamentals in writing simple, well-tested, maintainable code
- Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly to business partners, product managers, designers, and engineers
- Bias for action and problem-solving
- Willingness to expand technical tooling repertoire (platform uses Ruby, moving toward Kotlin/TypeScript; tech-agnostic on candidate background)
- Quick learning aptitude (non-negotiable)
