SEON is a fraud prevention and AML compliance platform serving thousands of companies globally, including Revolut, Wise, and Bilt. The platform uses 900+ real-time data signals to enrich customer profiles, flag suspicious behavior, and streamline compliance workflows. The Customer Platform Team is the core of SEON's product, developing services that support the entire system and the primary customer-facing application. This team continuously adds features to improve UX and fraud analysis capabilities, spanning backend and frontend development, R&D, design, and database work.
As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you will contribute to high-impact fraud prevention features while mentoring other engineers. You'll deliver production-grade NodeJS, TypeScript, and React code with emphasis on simplicity, performance, and scalability. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing client and database features, maintaining and improving the codebase, reviewing pull requests with constructive feedback, and participating in the full software development lifecycle from design through rollout. You'll bring an engineering mindset focused on how systems work, scale, and improve over time, and support the team's self-organizing, cross-functional culture.
The role is based in SEON's Budapest office with a hybrid work schedule, offering flexibility while maintaining team collaboration.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5+ years of fullstack software engineering experience with NodeJS, TypeScript, React, REST, RDBMS, and NoSQL
- Agile and iterative mindset with end-to-end ownership (build it, run it philosophy)
- Strong expertise in automated testing and performance optimization
- Knowledge and understanding of IT security
- Experience designing modular systems, refactoring and decoupling monoliths, and working with microservices
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes
- Experience with continuous integration and delivery
- Proven ability working in self-organizing, cross-functional teams
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Experience mentoring senior and mid-level colleagues
- Fluent English language proficiency
- Preferred: pair programming, TDD, Trunk-Based Development, AWS, Clickhouse, and hands-on NoSQL experience
