Jitterbit is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and develop features for its iPaaS (Integration Platform as a Service) and API Management platform. You will work on a modern, distributed tech stack including C++, Java, Lua, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS services. The role involves taking ownership of projects from design through deployment, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance in a 24/7/365 production environment.
You'll collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and operations to push the boundaries of enterprise integration. The team values high-quality, maintainable code, curiosity, ownership, and continuous learning. You'll mentor and help other engineers grow while working in a remote-first, distributed culture.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and developing new features for the iPaaS and APIM platform
- Taking ownership of projects from design through deployment
- Ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance in production
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineers, product, operations)
- Mentoring and supporting other engineers
- Making data-driven decisions and contributing to architectural decisions
Tech stack includes: C++, Java, Lua, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, Nginx, Tomcat, Apache, MySQL, SQL Server, Redis, Kafka, Elasticsearch, InfluxDB, and AWS services (S3, CloudFront, DynamoDB).
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience building large-scale distributed applications
- Strong experience building multi-tenant SaaS applications
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Experience with microservices and cloud-based architectures/design patterns
- Strong experience in Java
- Substantial experience with top-tier RDBMS (SQL Server, MySQL)
- Excellent JavaScript, CSS, and HTML authoring skills
- Proficiency with JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Node.js, or Go
- Hands-on experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes deployment
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a distributed, remote team environment
- Self-driven and capable of working on key initiatives independently
