Jitterbit is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and develop features for its iPaaS (Integration Platform as a Service) and API Management platform. You will work on large-scale distributed systems serving enterprise customers, taking ownership of projects from design through deployment in a 24x7x365 production environment.
You'll collaborate with engineers, product managers, and operations to build reliable, scalable backend services. The role emphasizes code quality, maintainability, and mentoring junior engineers. You'll work with a modern tech stack including C++, Java, Lua, Docker, Kubernetes, MySQL, SQL Server, Redis, Kafka, Elasticsearch, and AWS services (S3, CloudFront, DynamoDB).
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing backend features for the iPaaS and APIM platform
- Ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance in production
- Taking ownership of projects end-to-end
- Mentoring and helping other engineers grow
- Making data-driven decisions and collaborating across distributed teams
- Contributing to architectural decisions for microservices and cloud-based systems
The ideal candidate is self-driven, communicates clearly in writing and verbally, and thrives in a remote-first culture. You should be comfortable with ambiguity, value diverse perspectives, and take pride in writing code that others find easy to understand and build upon.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of experience building large-scale distributed applications
- Strong experience with multi-tenant SaaS applications
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Experience with microservices and cloud-based architectures/design patterns
- Strong proficiency in Java
- Substantial experience with top-tier RDBMS (SQL Server, MySQL)
- Excellent JavaScript, CSS, and HTML authoring skills
- Proficiency with JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Node.js, or Go
- Hands-on experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes deployment
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront)
