Salary: USD 180,000 - 260,000 / annual

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Business Systems Engineering team, you will design and implement technical solutions that serve Verkada's Go-to-Market organization. The team acts as custodian of critical data used by sales, order, finance, and support teams, with a philosophy emphasizing automation over operation, metrics over anecdotes, and iteration over perfection.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement technical solutions spanning AWS, Salesforce, and NetSuite
- Improve systems observability and invest in reliability and correctness of data
- Develop customer empathy to propose improvements to internal systems
- Lead projects from ideation through release
- Help and mentor junior engineers
You will work on distributed systems at scale, shipping both customer-facing products and internal tools. The role requires deep expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, Fargate, Lambda, Airflow, Athena, DynamoDB, VPC, EC2) and a passion for observability and reliability. This is an in-office role at Verkada's San Mateo headquarters.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of software engineering with focus on distributed systems at scale
- Shipped customer-facing products or internal tools
- Flexible and adaptive in fast-paced startup environment
- Passion for observability and reliability
- In-depth expertise in distributed systems and data processing
- AWS Cloud experience with foundational blocks: Kubernetes, Fargate, Lambda, Airflow, Athena, DynamoDB, VPC, EC2
- Bonus: Experience with data infrastructure and data analytics
