GetYourGuide is the globally leading marketplace for unforgettable travel experiences. Since 2009, over 150 million tours, activities, and attraction tickets have been booked through the platform. The company is headquartered in Berlin with 17 local offices worldwide and a team of over 800 travel experts and technologists.
The User Platform team is a newly formed function building the traveler context layer. This team is responsible for resolving user identity across devices and sessions, and consolidating scattered signals (identity, booking history, browsing behavior, care conversations, preferences, and predictions) into a shared, interpretable, and predictive understanding that every team across GetYourGuide can build upon. As the function matures, scope will extend to other user types.
In this role, you will:
- Design, launch, and iterate on A/B experiments to enable fast iteration and customer learning
- Maintain high-quality standards and continuously improve the codebase, systems, and processes
- Design and develop efficient, scalable solutions
- Mentor team members and participate in hiring
- Contribute to the team's roadmap and long-term strategy
- Work with Java, Spring Boot, MySQL, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Kafka, and Kubernetes
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and analysts
You will demonstrate mature judgment in adopting and evaluating AI tools, proactively lead the team in new AI technologies, and support others in applying AI effectively while maintaining quality, security, and governance standards.
The role offers a hybrid working arrangement with three days of in-office collaboration (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) and two days of optional at-home focus time. REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years of software development experience
- High proficiency in Java
- Expertise in web application development using component-based frameworks
- Experience designing architecture and deployment of web applications and services
- Experience writing tests
- Ability to turn ideas into fast, reliable, and maintainable code
- Positive, proactive team player passionate about their craft
- Customer-centric prioritization and data-driven decision-making
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with ability to clearly explain technical concepts

- Experience with A/B testing, hypothesis building, and event-based analytics
