Octopus Energy is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a specialized backend team focused on payments, pricing, and billing infrastructure. You will develop and improve core pricing and discount mechanisms, enhance financial reporting accuracy, expand subscription offerings, and support cross-functional teams (Operations, Finance, Product) in resolving customer issues and building robust systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and improving pricing and discount systems
- Enhancing payment success rates and financial reporting accuracy across multiple payment providers
- Expanding and scaling the charging subscription platform
- Collaborating within a small specialized team to deliver high-quality solutions
- Supporting Operations and Finance teams with payments-related troubleshooting and reporting systems

REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of software development experience, preferably with Django or similar Python frameworks
- Experience with monitoring and debugging applications and infrastructure
- Experience maintaining asynchronous processing systems (AMQP, Celery)
- Ability to discuss vision and features within a team and propose creative solutions
- Knowledge of common security practices
- Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD)
- Ability to write robust and fault-tolerant software
- Proficient understanding of Git
NICE-TO-HAVE:
- Experience with subscriptions and recurring payments
- Experience with billing and invoicing flows
- Experience working on commercials, pricing, and tax in an international context
- Experience with KYC/KYB products and flows
