Salary: USD 119,000 - 150,000 / annual
BitSight is a cyber risk management platform that helps companies manage cybersecurity exposure, performance, and risk across their organization and third-party ecosystems. The company has pioneered the cyber ratings industry since 2011 and serves over 3,500 customers globally with a team of 600+ employees across Boston, Raleigh, New York, Lisbon, Singapore, and remote locations.
You will join one of BitSight's multicultural Engineering teams, focusing on the Third Party Risk Management business unit. As a Senior Software Engineer, Backend, you will own complex technical problems from design through completion, collaborating closely with teammates to deliver high-quality, well-tested code in a continuous delivery environment. You'll be expected to think on your feet, learn quickly, and contribute new ideas and techniques that drive continuous improvement. The role values strong generalists who can work across multiple technologies and languages, picking up new concepts as needed.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and building backend systems for SaaS applications
- Maintaining and optimizing REST APIs
- Contributing to technical design and implementation of loosely defined features
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams in a high-trust engineering culture
- Delivering well-tested code and owning commitments through completion
- Potentially leading initiatives around internal coding agents and AI-assisted development workflows
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer building and maintaining SaaS applications
- Strong proficiency in Python and modern Python frameworks (Django, FastAPI, Flask, SQLAlchemy)
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience building, maintaining, and optimizing REST APIs
- Solid experience with cloud computing environments (AWS)
- Experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL) and data modeling
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
Preferred qualifications:
- Hands-on experience building internal coding agents (e.g., ticket-to-MR, automated code review) and leading their rollout
- Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark ecosystems)
- Experience with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor)
