Datadog's Autonomous Ops & Maintenance (ATOM) team is building an AI-powered platform that automates complex operational tasks and software maintenance for engineering teams. The platform acts as an intelligent virtual collaborator, reducing manual toil while providing visibility, oversight, and trust for mission-critical environments.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and scale the foundational architecture of this greenfield initiative. You'll synthesize large technical datasets into structured knowledge, engineer AI-driven components to analyze operational workflows, and build highly reliable systems for executing automated modifications at scale.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead a greenfield initiative from inception to scale, shaping foundational product architecture and engaging directly with users to refine early concepts
- Build mission-critical solutions that customers depend on daily
- Design fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable solutions running in multi-tenant environments
- Independently own features and components, work through ambiguous technical problems, and be responsible for reliability, observability, and operational quality
Datadog operates as a hybrid workplace. The role is based in Paris, France.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of software engineering experience
- BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent professional experience
- Proficiency in Go
- Demonstrated ability to build and operate production services end-to-end
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems
- Demonstrated ability to use AI coding tools in day-to-day workflows and validate, critique, and refine AI-generated output
- Bonus: Experience with Kubernetes, workflow orchestration systems, or building AI agents
