Zeroport is pioneering Least Agency for AI and human network access through hardware-enforced architecture that creates physical boundaries between AI agents, human users, and critical systems. The company combines purpose-built hardware, robust software, and non-IP connectivity to enable secure, real-time work without exposing protected networks.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will own complex problems end-to-end, working across multiple languages, services, and system boundaries. The role requires strong system and product thinking—the ability to take high-level needs, understand broader context, challenge assumptions, identify user flows and edge cases, and help shape solutions before coding. You will turn high-level requirements into well-defined solutions, considering constraints and expected behavior. You'll think beyond immediate tasks to understand how features fit into the broader system and evolve over time.
Key responsibilities include designing and building across multiple parts of the system and technology stack, making architecture decisions with reliability, security, failure scenarios, upgrades, and backward compatibility in mind. You will work daily with AI coding agents (Claude Code or similar) to plan, build, investigate, and validate software. You'll debug complex issues across distributed systems and real-world environments, research unfamiliar technologies and protocols, and collaborate across software, embedded, hardware, security, and infrastructure teams.
AI is deeply integrated into how Zeroport builds software. Strong engineering judgment and the ability to critically validate AI-generated work are essential. The team is small, fast-moving, and technical, with a strong builder mentality focused on redefining how humans and AI securely interact with critical systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
- Strong system and product thinking: ability to understand problems behind requirements, define scope, anticipate edge cases and constraints, and make thoughtful decisions about solutions
- Ability to operate effectively with ambiguity and drive problems forward without fully defined specifications
- Strong system design and architecture skills
- Hands-on experience using AI coding agents (Claude Code or similar) as part of development workflow
- Ability to learn new technologies, languages, and domains quickly
- Experience debugging complex or distributed systems
- Solid understanding of networking and security fundamentals: TCP/IP, TLS/mTLS, certificates, PKI, and authentication
NICE TO HAVE:
- Real-time media: WebRTC (ICE/TURN, DTLS), GStreamer, H.264, or remote desktop protocols (RDP)
- Identity: SAML, OIDC, LDAP/Active Directory
- Security engineering: threat modeling, secure protocol design, PKI and mTLS, code signing and signed updates, Linux hardening, or offensive security/CTF background
- Embedded Linux and hardware interfaces: Yocto, ARM boards, CAN (ISO-TP), UART, HID input, V4L2 video capture
- Flutter with native code (FFI, platform channels) or cross-platform desktop stack
- Experience shipping on-premise or air-gapped software
- Building custom AI tooling: agent workflows, skills, MCP servers
