Salary: USD 180,000 - 205,000 / annual
Culture Biosciences is building a cloud-connected bioprocessing platform called Console that simplifies and accelerates bioprocess development for biopharmaceutical companies. The platform merges products, services, and data management for mammalian, microbial, and viral vector production, enabling high-throughput process development projects executed in customer facilities, service labs, or hybrid setups.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and develop scalable applications that connect scientific workflows, cloud infrastructure, and hardware running in labs. You'll work across the full stack to deliver features that delight scientists in a highly technical, cross-functional environment. Your responsibilities include:
- Build a single-box emulator of the full stack (hardware and software) for release testing and future customer in-silico validation
- Shape testing strategies for hardware-in-the-loop systems, from unit coverage to end-to-end runs against real and simulated instruments
- Help define verification, tracing, and documentation of software changes as the company moves toward regulated environments
- Design and build features for Console, the bioprocess management software platform
- Partner with software, hardware, and scientific teams to translate bioprocessing and operational requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Mentor other engineers and contribute to strong software development practices across the team
- Learn about biotechnology and bioprocess development
You'll bring a testing and automation mindset that enables safe iteration on the platform, and partner effectively with multiple teams spanning software, hardware, and scientific domains.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Prior experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), Test Infrastructure Engineer, or similar automation-focused role
- Experience working on and scaling full-stack applications, including frontend development and backend service design
- Product-focused mindset with consideration for end-user perspective in all development aspects
- Reputation for technical rigor
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to building solutions that solve real problems and help end users
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Experience with simulators, emulators, or hardware-in-the-loop test harnesses
- Experience shipping software in regulated industries (medical devices, pharma, biopharma, petrochemical)
- Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps background
- Strong interest in life sciences or biotechnology
