Built processes 10% of all U.S. construction spend and serves as the critical link between lenders and borrowers in the construction lending industry.
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Argentina-based team working on the lending side of Built's platform. This is a technical leadership role where you will deliver complex end-to-end solutions, mentor junior team members, and drive architectural decisions across multiple components and teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver complex end-to-end solutions involving multiple components and teams, addressing ambiguity and driving initiatives aligned with team OKRs
- Assess technical solutions to ensure alignment with product strategy, providing recommendations on priorities and trade-offs
- Lead large-scale refactors and system upgrades, estimating scope and proactively managing risks in collaboration with stakeholders
- Expand into architectural and systems thinking, documenting system structures and processes for cross-team understanding
- Serve as a technical leader and mentor, enabling team growth by delegating responsibilities and fostering collaboration
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to deliver impactful business outcomes
Tech Stack: Node.js, GraphQL, React, Redux, Nest.JS with TypeScript, Python frameworks (Django, FastAPI, Flask), DynamoDB, MySQL, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, GitHub.
Travel Requirement: Employees not based in Nashville are required to travel to the Nashville office at least twice per year for company gatherings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic Qualifications:
- Proven experience in core backend engineering, including scalable APIs, service design, and database modeling
- Expertise in database design and performance optimization with both relational and non-relational databases
- Knowledge of computer science fundamentals: object-oriented design, algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis
- Proven experience designing and deploying systems using AWS services in production environments
- Track record of success enabling engineering teams and business outcomes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building customer-facing React applications, ideally with TypeScript
- Experience building production backend APIs supporting customer-facing features
- Full-stack development experience; mastery of front-end with desire to achieve full-stack competency is acceptable
- Passion for building quality, testable code leveraging automation and improving codebase quality
- "Player-coach" mentality: strong technical contributions while mentoring others in small cross-functional teams
- Excellent troubleshooting skills within website, application servers, network, and databases
- Strong focus on both internal and external customers
- High ownership and accountability of delivery and work product
- Experience with refactoring initiatives or contributing to legacy codebases
- Experience working in growing companies, startups, or growth-stage organizations
