AdeptID is building an AI-first talent matching platform embedded in ATS, HCM, and job boards. The company operates both an API business serving major HR technology organizations and an AI-first staffing business starting in healthcare. They combine proprietary matching technology, language models, and a growing network to solve talent shortages at scale.
In this Senior Software Engineer role, you will design, build, and operate the backend services and APIs powering talent matching in production. You'll own the production services, serving layer, and APIs that deliver matches to some of the largest HR technology organizations and AdeptID's own staffing business. This is a hands-on position on a small, growing team where you'll work with modern AI tooling by default.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs that power talent matching in production
- Build asynchronous, event-driven APIs and pipelines that remain fast and reliable under load
- Partner with Data Science to move matching and language models from prototype to reliable production services
- Use AI-assisted development daily to design, write, test, and review code, and help establish standards for it
- Own quality for shipped work: testing, monitoring, latency, and cost optimization
- Collaborate with Product and Operations to translate recruiter and candidate needs into shipped features
The tech stack includes Python on AWS, infrastructure as code using CDK, asynchronous services over SQS, and Postgres with VectorChord for vector search. You'll be expected to be fluent with AI-assisted development tools and coding agents as part of your normal workflow.
AdeptID's API business already powers millions of matches monthly, and the company has secured capital for an ambitious growth phase focused on technology and data capabilities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong Python skills
- Hands-on experience designing and operating production APIs and backend services at scale
- Experience designing asynchronous APIs (queues, events, webhooks, or streaming) and reasoning about concurrency
- Comfortable with the stack: Python on AWS, infrastructure as code using CDK, asynchronous services over SQS, and Postgres (with VectorChord for vector search)
- Fluency with AI-assisted development: building with coding agents and LLM tools as part of normal workflow
- Strong fundamentals in testing, observability, and debugging across distributed systems
Nice to have:
- Experience with small language models (SLMs), including fine-tuning, evaluation, or serving in production
- Experience close to AI/ML systems, such as model serving, retrieval, or evaluation harnesses
- Staffing, recruiting, or HR tech experience
